The Lighthouse Thrift Store was founded in February 2013 as a hands-on work-study program for students attending Wisconsin Academy. Created with both purpose and vision, the store provides meaningful, real-world job experience for high school students while faithfully serving the physical, social, and spiritual needs of the surrounding community.
Through daily operations, students gain practical skills in customer service, communication, teamwork, time management, and financial responsibility — lessons that extend far beyond the classroom. Wisconsin Academy, a Christian school located at N2355 Duborg Road in Columbus, Wisconsin, is committed to developing character, faith, and strong work ethic in its students, and the thrift store plays an important role in that mission.
Every item available for resale has been generously donated by members of the community. These donations not only give quality goods a second life but also make it possible for the store to operate as a ministry-minded outreach. Proceeds from every purchase directly support the store’s ongoing mission to serve the community and strengthen Christian education.
