Welcome

The Lighthouse Thrift Store was founded in February, 2013 as a work study program for high school students attending Wisconsin Academy. Its mission is to serve the physical, social, and spiritual needs of the people in the surrounding community while teaching work ethic and skills of customer service to the high school students. Wisconsin Academy is a Christian school located at N2355 Duborg Road in Columbus, Wisconsin. All items within the store for re-sale are received by donation. Proceeds from sales support the store’s mission to serve the surrounding community and Christian education.

At The Lighthouse Thrift Store, you’ll discover all the treasures you expect from a quality thrift store — including housewares, kitchen essentials, furniture, sporting goods, hardware, and a wide selection of books.

We also feature a convenient Bent-N-Dent grocery section offering discounted pantry items. In addition, we proudly carry vegetarian favorites from Loma Linda, Worthington, and other trusted vegetarian brands.

Come explore, save, and find something special every time you visit.

Manager – Robert Egger

My name is Robert, and in March of 2024 I stepped into the role of manager at The Lighthouse Thrift Store. Before that, I spent many years working as a school bus driver. Every day I had the responsibility of safely transporting kids to and from school, and it was a job that taught me a lot about patience, responsibility, and caring for people.

When the opportunity came to manage The Lighthouse Thrift Store, I saw it as more than just a career change. I saw it as another way to continue serving. Just like driving a bus, this job is about people. Every person who walks through the door has a story, a need, or maybe just hopes to find something useful at a price they can afford.

I truly believe The Lighthouse Thrift Store is more than just a place to shop. It’s a place where our community can come together. Many families depend on thrift stores to help stretch their budgets, and I work hard to keep our prices fair while still making sure we can keep the doors open and continue serving others.

My faith plays a big part in how I try to lead. I believe every person who walks through our doors deserves kindness, respect, and a warm welcome. Whether someone finds clothing, household items, or just a friendly conversation, I hope they leave feeling encouraged.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve this community in a new way. From driving a school bus to managing the store, the goal has always been the same for me: take care of people and do the work with honesty, faith, and a servant’s heart.

Thank you for supporting The Lighthouse Thrift Store and for being part of our community.
